The Department of Philosophy opens the history of Dragomaniv University: the Pedagogical Institute of public-funded students at the Kyiv Imperial University of St. Volodymyr began its work in November 1834. Orest Markovych Novitskyi (1806 – 1889) became the first professor of philosophy and statutory teacher of pedagogy in it. His heirs were Petro Semenovych Avsenev (1810 – 1852) and Sylvester Sylvestrovych Gogotsky (1813 – 1889).

September 1, 1920 - to implement the decisions of the All-Russian meeting of political science workers (1920), the Higher Institute of National Education, named after M.P., was created based on former universities. Drahomanov, professor of philosophy Oleksiy Mykytovych Gilyarov (1855 – 1938), moved to work for him. Since 1926, the university has been named the Kyiv Institute of National Education. The latter includes the Department of Philosophy as a subdivision of the Institute of Social Education. September 1, 1930 - by the resolutions of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) and the Central Committee of the C.P. (b)U, the order of the People's Commissariat of Education of the Ukrainian SSR, the order of the director of the KINO Mykyta Mynovych Hryshchenko, the all-institute department of philosophy was created (1933-1940) - the department of diamat and istmat, from 1941 and to this day - the department of philosophy.

August 1944 marked a significant moment in the history of the institute and the department of philosophy. Under the leadership of the indomitable Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Gavryl Arkhipovich Mashtaler, the department was restored. This act of resilience and determination is a testament to the unwavering spirit of the department. The team included G. T. Chirkov , S. A. Spector , O. G. Bilous , I. A. Tabachnikov since 1946, and O. P. Pavelko since 1953.

In the early 1950s, the Department of Philosophy was headed by M. Ya. Shcherbin, and since 1953, I. A. Tabachnikov, A.I. Klevtsov, V.F. Perederii, V.V. Yermak, S.A. Spector and Oleksiy Pylypovich Pavelko (1918 - 2001), doctor of philosophy (1972), professor (1974), who headed the department in 1953 - 1989. In the 1960s and 1970s, V.F. Perederii, I.A. Tabachnikov, V.I. Voitko, F.A. Misyura, V.V. Honcharenko, I.M. Serii, O.D. worked on it. Kardash , O.K. Yevtushenko , M.M. Pidtychenko , L.P. Smorzh , N.K. Kiselyova, G.I. Ivanov, L.V. Serova, O.V. Korol, I.V. Ogorodnyk, Z.M. Filipovich, E.V. Zhulinska, Yu.O. Fediv, in the 80s V.F. Muzychenko, N.M, joined them. Krasnova , G.I. Volinka , N.G. Mozgova , V.O. Doroshkevich , V.E. Vladimirenko , V.V. Kucherenko , N.V. Kivenko , A.I. Kolodna , H.P. Balabanova , L.I. Karnaukhov , I.G. Nemchynov , N.V. Turpak .

In different years, the heads of the department were: Oleksiy Mykytovych Gilyarov (1920-1921), Stepan Gavrylovych Lavrov (1930-1933), Artemiy Fedorovych Vievskyi (1933-1935), Nikita Yakovych Shcherbin (1940-1941; 1951-1953), Tikhon Mykytovych Sopilnyk (1944-1950),) Oleksiy Pylypovich Pavelko (1953-1989), Hryhoriy Ivanovich Volinka (1989-2014), Natalia Hryhorivna Mozgova (from June 2014-2023).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hryhoriy Ivanovich Volinka (1949-2014) headed the department in 1989-2014. Doctor of Philosophical Sciences (1989), professor (1990), honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine, in 2003-2014 - vice-rector for scientific work, he is the author of eighteen books, written alone and in co-authorship, about a hundred articles. In 2009, a significant milestone was achieved with the creation of the department's website on the 'Internet' network, enhancing our visibility and accessibility.

 

In 2001, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Viktor Pet ­rovich Andrushchenko started working at the department; since 2003, he has been rector of the university, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, founder of a scientific school that is authoritative far beyond the borders of Ukraine.

Post-graduate and doctoral programs operate in the department. Together with the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies, the Department of Philosophy during 2009-2020 published the "Scientific Journal of the M.P. Dragomanov National University of Ukraine ". Series 7. Culturology. Religious studies. Philosophy".

The historical-philosophical school of the department works quite fruitfully on the problems of the history of the world and Ukrainian philosophy. It is worth noting that professors N.G. Mozgov, I.G. Nemchynov, V.O. Doroshkevich, and associate professor B.K. Matyushka.

In June 2014, the department was headed by Nataliya Hryhorivna Mozgova.

Nataliya Hryhorivna MOZHOVA - Honored Education Worker of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of Philosophy from 2014 to 2023. Nataliya Hryhorivna has worked at the Department of Philosophy since 1981 as a graduate student, assistant, senior teacher, and associate professor in 2003 - professor. In 1997, she defended her PhD thesis, "Epistemological Problems in the Work of Pyotr Linytskyi ". In 2006, in their doctoral dissertation "Kyiv spiritual and academic philosophy: analysis of logical and epistemological trends." She taught the following educational components: "Philosophy of Science," "Philosophy of Logic," "Modern Methods of Philosophical Research" (for graduate students), "Theory of Knowledge and Epistemology" (for undergraduates), "Modern Theoretical Philosophy" (for master's students).

She was a member of the editorial board of the collection of scientific works "Interdisciplinary studies of complex systems" at the M.P. Drahomanova, the scientific-theoretical philosophical collection "Ideas" (Bulgaria), the editorial board of the Bulletin "Philosophical Vicissitudes" at Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin. She was the deputy head of the specialized academic council D. 26.053.16 at Mykhailo Drahomanov State University for the defense of doctoral theses in the specialty 09.00.04 - philosophical anthropology, philosophy of culture; was a member of the specialized academic council D 26.001.27 at KNU named after Taras Shevchenko, specialty 09.00.05 – history of philosophy. Member of the branch commission of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine. She had 41 years of scientific and pedagogical experience.

During her work, she was awarded: "Certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine" (2005), "Excellence of Education of Ukraine" (2006), "Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine" (2006), Order of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara (2005 ), Order of St. Cyril and Methodius (2011), a medal named after Pylyp Orlyk (2013), a medal of the APN of Ukraine "K.D. Ushinsky" (2018), an order of the holy great martyr Yuriy the Victorious of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (2023).

Natalia Hryhorivna Mozgova is the author of about 250 scientific and scientific-methodological works. Among them are three individual monographs and one co-authored monograph, six educational aids, and textbooks (individual and co-authored).
